Our Indigenous people and Covid-19

No N95 mask, no problem.

For Bapa Lido Banay of Sitio Banti, San Roque, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro, having an improvised mask is better than not having one at all.

Bapa Lito is a Mangyan.

Mangyan is an indigenous group on the island of Mindoro, southwest of the island of Luzon, Philippines. Currently, the total number of Mangyans still living in the island totals at around 280,000, but official statistics are difficult to determine under the conditions of remote areas, reclusive tribal groups and some having little if any outside world contact.

The Mangyan has its own tribal name, language, and customs.

As of April 19, 2020, there are 6 confirmed cases, 4 active cases, 1 recovery and 1 death in Oriental Mindoro. (Covid-19 Update via @itsmorefunOrientalMindoro FB page)
